Suus Kooijman

A week ago, I came across Suus Kooijman´s encaustic paintings* at the Affordable Art Fair. I personally find her work fascinating, because it manages to simultaneously conceal

and reveal! Not to mention the beautiful lighting, which is just as fascinating.

The works featured here are from the ‘Tussen Isselt en Eem’ series.

Her work can be seen as part of the ‘De mens centraal’ exhibition at De Ploegh galerie in Soest. And otherwise, on her website.

*)This is a painting technique that involves adding colored pigments to heated beeswax (along with a few other substances). The technique is presumed to have been developed around 100 BC.
